Custom Components in Multisim |
|
When creating a design in Multisim, you may run into situations where
a particular component may not exist in the standard Multisim component
library. To make it easy for you to complete your design with your
specified parts, Multisim includes a Component Wizard to quickly step
you through the creation of a custom part. This online tutorial
walks you through an example component creation and illustrates each
step with guidelines and graphics.

Ultiboard: Setting the Reference
Point of a Component
The reference point is a location on the PCB that has the coordinates (0,0).
All measurements on the board are made relative to this point. The reference
point can be visually identified on a board by the reference point icon,
which looks like a set of crosshairs.

Ultiboard:
Component Heights in 3D
A critical step in designing printed circuit boards is ensuring that
the physical dimensions of the board will fit within case or enclosure
for which it is designed. An ill-fitted board can lead to delayed shipments
due to lengthy redesign phases, patched work-arounds, or even early failure
because of unpredicted stress on the board or components. An
automated way of ensuring that all components placed on a board will
fit into their enclosures helps save you valuable time and money. The
Ultiboard database contains height information about all its components,
and you can use Ultiboard's powerful 3D board view to display the height
of specified components.
